The cost is about 99.77 Lakhs including site development.
This is an attempt towards Building Schools for Future (BSF) in Goa. This is an achievement to transform school functions and to develop building for the 21st century.
The Main features of this Healthy School Design are:
1) Innovative methods and building solutions for extreme humid and rain laced climatic conditions of Goa are adopted in designing the building. The building has a wide overhanging Double skinned metal roof that shades the façades against rain and sun. It absorbs direct sunlight, makes the air between the two layers circulate and guides the hot air out of the building ensuring natural ventilations. This also protects the corridors widely used by children during breaks.
2) Classroom Design is for Student Achievement and Learner Centered Environment. All Physical factors affecting learning are considered while designing classrooms such as Proper Ventilation, Lighting Day lighting, Acoustics etc. Classrooms are designed with Good sight lines & Efficient Sitting layouts. Seat size and orientation of the Study Table is done considering the comfort of the student. All modern amenities required for the growth of education standards like Computer data & Telephone networking, Mirror Optic fittings, Fans etc are provided. Classrooms are located for easy access by students and equipment, yet is isolated from noisy gathering places.
• According to Classroom types, the Classroom design is made Flexible and changeable and this allows multiple and diverse teaching and learning activities.
• Moving out of the classroom Concept is adopted which helps in extending the learning environment.
• BREAK OUT SPACE or COLLABORATION AREA or COURT YARD is provided adjoining the Classrooms. This space is utilized for DISCUSSIONS or GUIDANCE, which helps Cross disciplinary learning and Project/research based learning. “APPLIED” learning is encouraged.Court Yard seating outside classroom are provided for interaction between students and teachers. It also helps in minimizing the waiting in hallways. These spaces are specially designed to enhance the Interaction Quality of students and overall development of the student.
• There are no narrow corridors in the building but a central activity area which forms the main area of Interaction. This gives a feeling of openness and connects the whole building without blocking visually.
• Besides Classrooms the building houses all the necessary correlated activities required for proper functioning of the school like Teachers’ Station, Well lit Library and Rest rooms with proper sanitary facilities for both the sexes. The bldg is Disabled friendly and designed to have a great school environment to help the overall growth of the student.
• The whole school is a gated complex with high compound wall for better security of students. There is CCTV security for the school.
