Construction of Central Library Building at Patto, Panaji, Goa.

Project highlights

The Central Library was operating from an old building at Panaji for a long period of time with lack of proper facilities that could be provided to its members and general public restricting even the procurement of latest edition / files due to lack of proper space. The Directorate of Education therefore had taken up the project of construction of new library through GSIDC.

Central Library consists of the following :-
Ground Floor (Art & Culture Office) – Multipurpose Hall of 180 sitting capacity, Fine Arts Studio 1 & 2. Assistant Director and Deputy Director’s office, 2 nos. of Music Rooms, Record / Studio Room, Documentation Room, Transformer Room, Administration Room, Canteen Area, Lobby Area.
First Floor – Entrance Lobby, Exhibition Hall, Atrium, Meeting Room and Director’s Office, Partly Art & Culture, office, Bookshop Hall.
Second Floor – Map & Globe Section, Children Section, Internet Computer Section, Audio Visual Section, Taluka Village Libraries, Study Library, Circulating Libraries, R.R.R.L. Trust Area, Copy Right Books Section, Lecture Room.
Third Floor – Conference Room, Marathi Section, Hindi Section, Record Room, Technical Room, Bindery Room, Konkani Section.
Fourth Floor – Fumigation Room, Preservation Room, Photography Room, Microfilm Reading Room, 2 nos. of Rest Rooms, Reading Section and Library Section, Data Imaging Centre, Old Newspaper & Magazine Section, Manuscripts Section, Inhouse Publication.
Fifth Floor – Reading Terrace Area, Reference Section, Competitive Exam Cell,
Sixth Floor – Portuguese Section
